The Beauty of Sony Xperia J

Sony Xperia J

The Sony Xperia J is considered to be the smallest and yet affordable version of the Sony Xperia T. Basically, it has the same design style as its sister but offers much less in terms of features and specifications, thus making it an affordable phone.

The handset has a small 4.0-inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display with multi-touch features. It incorporates 480 x 854 pixels with 245 pixels per inch density and protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass. However, the Xperia J is.55-inches smaller and less sensitive that the Xperia T, both are integrated with the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine system that enhances the video and display of the unit.

The Sony Xperia J looks remarkably like the Xperia T with its same arched back that is designed to feel and fit snugly in one hand. The only difference is that, with the Sony Xperia J, you can take off the back cover which gives you access to the MicroSD slot to further expand its memory, the SIM card port and the 1750 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Sony Xperia J

The handset is only equipped with a 1GHz single core processor from Qualcomm's Snapdragon S1 (MSM7227A) and a 512MB of RAM. It is powered with Google's Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Though only functioning with a single core processor, this is not an issue with the Sony Xperia J, for it has no problem associated with the working capabilities of its processor and operating system. The unit seems to have run the OS smoothly without lag or delay.

This budget friendly Smartphone is stuffed with two snappers, one in front and the other one on the rear side. The rear camera delivers 5-Megapixel with 4x digital zoom, along with Auto focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging and a VGA video recording. Nonetheless, the Xperia J's front camera may not be as good as the Xperia T, but it isn't bad at all considering at how affordable the unit is.

The video playback on the phone is amazingly surprising. Thanks to the integrated Sony Mobile Bravia Engine, it gave the phone a more distinct viewing pleasure. The unit is extremely comfortable to hold while watching movies because it only weighs 124 grams and it doesn't cause any strain on the arm.

Included with the Sony Xperia J is the enhancement of its audio playback and the Walkman application. The audio playback through the phone's built in speaker provides louder volume without distorting the audio quality of the music played. This is all made possible with Sony's xLoud software.

Sony Xperia J

The Smartphone is powered by a Lithium Ion 1750 mAh battery which gives life to the phone for about 607 hours on 2G and 618 hours on 3G on standby mode and talk time life of 5 hours on 2G and up to 7 hours on 3G networks.

The Sony Xperia J might not be as impressive in comparison to the Sony Xperia T, but it does its job very well according to how it was designed and according to how it is supposed to function. On the other hand, it is a decent phone. However there is still no confirmed price of the said unit but it will definitely be much cheaper than its predecessors.

This device is a perfect blend of hardware, software as well as ecosystem. HTC One X consists of some aggressive specs which surely makes this device stand out in the crowd.

Sony Xperia T - The Next Generation Flagship, Coming Soon

Sony Xperia T

Sony Mobile has recently unveiled Xperia T, the new flagship droid for the upcoming quarter. Running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Xperia T is powered by 1.5 GHz Krait Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon chipset processor and Aderno 225 GPU coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Sony already planned Android 4.1.1 JellyBean upgrade for the droid which is expected to roll out by the end of this year.

Xperia T features 4.55 inch scratch resistant TFT Capacitive touch screen Reality display with impressive resolution support of 720x1280 pixels. Sony increased pixel density to 323 ppi which means display will be brighter and sharper. Built on Sony Timescape UI, Xperia T is powered by Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine, the same technology used in Sony TV sets. Watch HD movies or play games in wide high resolution display of Xperia T for more entertainment.

Sony Xperia T will be available only in 16 GB storage model and micro SD card slot expandable up to another 32 GB. More storage options, at least 32 GB on board storage would have been better with this flagship droid. In camera segment, Sony Xperia T can challenge other high end droids quite easily. It sports 13 MP Exmor sensor rear camera featured with LED flash, auto focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization etc. Primary camera records full HD quality video at 1080p. Front facing 1.3 MP camera is there in the front panel just above the display. Stream video or images in TV right from your handset using the TV out port. In connectivity segment Xperia T includes Wi-Fi with hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth, micro USB port and NFC. These are no surprise to us; all these are necessary components. The droid is good enough to hit up to 237 Kbps EDGE speed in 2G network and up to 42 Mbps HSPA+ speed in 3G network. Sony added a 'One Touch connectivity' option in this flagship that uses NFC. Transferring data to and from the handset is as easy as pie.

Sony Xperia T

Sony is also offering 50 GB Dropbox cloud storage without any additional cost. Li-Ion 1850 mAh battery delivers up to 7 hrs of talk time and 450 hrs of standby time. A more powerful battery would have been better with this. In Benchmark Pi, NenaMark 2 and Quadrant benchmark tests Xperia T has done remarkably well. It scored way better than Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X, LG Optimus 4X HD. Remember one thing; none of the quad core beasts have used Krait architecture. Thus, Benchmark Pi offered advantages to dual core Xperia T over other quad core power houses. I still believe quad core flagships are better when the question of performance comes to the forefront.

Sony Xperia T is a dual core Snapdragon S4 powered smartphone featuring 4.55 inch touch screen display at 326 ppi. Check out Sony Smartphones.

Technology Innovation With Asus Padfone

ASUS Padfone

Innovation is the name of technology and so Asus has come out with an innovative product called Asus Padfone. The Asus Padfone is speculated to be priced at $1000. This product is a Smartphone that fits into the dock of the tablet and has an Android platform.

The phone features

The ASUS Padfone is a Smartphone that runs on Android. This Smartphone fits in the specifically designed dock in the Asus tablet. The tablet is good to look at and the Smartphone fits well in the doc provided. Overall, the Padfone has metallic edges with glossy black bezel. The Padfone has a super AMOLED touch-screen that measures 4.3 inches and 960x540resolution. The buttons provided for locking the screen and power on are well designed; the left hand side of the device contains USB port to facilitate charging, it also has an HDMI port for multimedia support functionality. These ports can be used when you dock the Padfone in the station and then connect it for charging or to your TV for viewing videos.

This phone has a dual-core 1.5GHz processor with 1GB RAM, this clearly indicates that it is capable of performing heavy internet and gaming activities without any lag. It has internal memory storage of 32GB; this too is expandable with the card slot provided at the rear end.

The Padfone Station

When we look at the innovative concept of Padfone by Asus, in one glance it is easy to notice the modular design approach incorporated. As soon as you place the phone in the Padfone station, you will be able to display the contents into a tablet with 10.1 inches of screen. All you need to do is slip the phone in the Padfone station and within a few seconds of locking the phone the device is ready to use.

The memory, processor and connectivity options are already available in the phone but the tablet is facilitated with a battery power of 6600mAh. This tablet supports 900 and 2100MHz (3G) in Australia. The only drawback it seems to have is that it is relatively bulkier as compared to other products. The thickness of the station measures 13.5mm, this is why it seems thick. When the phone is in the dock the whole device weighs 853 grams, this is clearly indicative how much heavy this device becomes when compared to other Android devices.

The overall the design is attractive but then again there is a flaw when it comes to the latch of the Padfone station. When you keep the device flat on a surface you will find it rocking due to the latch door protrusion. This creates a hindrance if you are trying to type with on-screen keyboard.

Apps and the functionality

Even after bringing out an innovative product in the technology market, the reason this might not catch the fancy of a techno geek is the lack of apps. A user will be disappointed when it comes to apps; most of the apps available for Android devices are unavailable for Padfone as these are yet to be designed according to the screen size of the tablet. Nevertheless, a user will find basic apps like Twitter, Spotify and Facebook.

You need to be careful while handling Padfone, especially when you are already working on an app or constructing an e-mail. Remember not to remove it from the device, this will result in loss of work or remove the app from the tablet.

Asus Padfone

Performance

When it comes to the performance of this tablet one might find it disappointing at times. when you are swiping through the startup screen on your Padfone then you may find it working smooth; performing the same function while the phone is in the doc will somewhat lag in performance and seem sluggish. Another thing to notice is that the apps seem to work fine on the phone as compared to tablet view. The screen flickers for a split second when dislodging the phone from the station.

Software of Asus Padfone

The software used in this device is Vanilla by Google (Android). The user will find some added apps that are provided by Google. For example, MyCloud for storing 32GB data online that is available for three years, File manager for managing documents, MyNet for media and content (DLNA) and MyLibrary.

Additionally a user will also find other basic apps such as weather widgets, e-mail functionality and a utility for Padfone Station.

Camera and Multimedia

Padfone has 8mp camera, you will be able to capture decent pictures and shoot good videos. The sharpness of color and image quality is good. The functionality of autofocus is not as expected. However, the camera quality is better when plugged into the station. The device contains a front facing camera for video chat with 1080p HD recorder.

In addition to camera, you will find a speaker right next to the docket; this is capable of loud and clear voice. Another interesting thing to notice is the stylus that doubles up the duty of a Bluetooth headset. You can use it on the tablet as well as receive call while the phone is plugged in the device.

All that can be said about this product is that it does seem worth it when it comes to concept technology. Asus Padfone is scheduled to launch on 14 August, lets us hope that this device is successful in pulling majority of technology users.

Optimus L3 a Budget Phone by LG

Optimus L3

The LG has recently launched a Smartphone for budget conscious users, the LG Optimus L3. This Smartphone runs on Android OS and is priced at $153.67 that makes it a budget category Smartphone. Let us find out about the specs of this phone and other technical aspects.

Design

The look and design of LG Optimus L3 is different from other Smartphones. Comparatively it is neither sleek nor as stylish as other brands available in the market. It is a unibody phone with plastic finish that measures 102mm x 61.6mm x 11.7mm. This means that this phone is relatively smaller that makes it convenient to carry in pocket and it fits well in the palm. Screen of the phone measures 3.2 inches but it is impressive to look at. This Smartphone is available in two colors: off white and black color.

Specifications and features

When it comes to the specs and features of this phone the phone seems pretty decent in the approach. This phone has a 3mp camera at the rear end. The phone is powered with 1540 mAh battery that is powerful enough to support the routine functionalities and browsing for a whole day without charging. The UI (2.0) of the phone is more the same as in any Android phone as there are not much differences.

However a user interested in downloading music or storing pictures can do with 1GB of storage capacity. For more memory space one can opt to expand the memory with 32GB micro SD card. For social media enthusiasts Twitter and Facebook are provided. These work fast and smooth, other functionalities like network, voice and music sound are good especially when we look at an entry level phone like L3. Another interesting thing about this phone is that it is a dual SIM phone; you can insert two GSM SIM cards in this phone.

LG Optimus L3: Screen and display

Thought this is s Smartphone but with mere 3.2 inches of screen, this does leaves a user disappointed. A phone that is competing against the likes of Sony and Nokia budget phones, much is expected on terms of a decent display screen. Nonetheless, the resolution of this phone is 320X240 pixel which does some justice to the display. A user will be easily able to browse through social media websites and play games as these require image clarity and sharpness that is delivered well by this phone. The display is comfortably visible at all the angles and is brighter too this makes it easy to view e-mails, pictures and other content with relative clarity.

Performance

This phone is powered with Qualcomm MSM7225A at 800MHz processor. The system runs on Gingerbread that is decent in its performance. However, one must remember that this phone is not made for heavy gaming or downloads. On a routine basis if you use this phone for browsing then it will work fine but indulging in streaming songs and videos might leave you a bit disappointed, this is as much as its 384mb RAM can support.

Battery

The battery of LG Optimus L3 is decent as it provides a day of backup if you indulge in routine browsing. As far as the talk time goes you will be able to pull through 10 hours of 3G talk time, with 2G you will be able to use it for 12.5 hours easily. Another interesting thing to notice is that if you keep the Wi-Fi turned on and use push E-mail functionality this will amaze you with a couple of days battery backup without having to charge your phone. Overall, the battery performance is good and exactly what one expects out of it especially with a budget phone like LG.

The Verdict

LG Optimus L3 is comes out as a winner when it comes to style, design and small form. Other things like battery life are impressive, UI is user friendly and smooth. Gaming enthusiasts will be surprised by its ability to support 3D games and load flash content easily. However, the phone has its cons too, especially with 3mp camera that may leave the user disappointed; another thing is the internal memory that seems a bit low. However, a user has an option of expandable memory but this does leaves one a bit disappointed especially for storing music and pictures. If the camera quality is tweaked then this phone will be able to interest majority of technology users looking for budget phone.

The iPhone 4S Made Simple

Iphone 4S

The iPhone 4S was supposed to be launched as the iPhone 5 but Apple Inc managed to take the ever-popular iPhone 4 and give it a complete tech makeover. The initial rounds of disappointment, however, gave way to surprise as more and more people soon realized that modifying even a small part of the device had affected the overall performance, although in a positive way.

It is not too hard to list the changes that have been made to the iPhone 4S -

  •  The CPU has undergone an upgrade and the gadget now sports a powerful dual-core A5 processor.
  • Instead of the iPhone 4's 5 megapixel camera, the 4S comes with an 8 megapixel camera which also features a better aperture ratio.
  • The graphical processing power has been subjected to a boost by almost seven times.
  • Another welcome addition is the new voice recognition service from Apple called Siri.

Design and Feel

Not much has changed in external appearance for the iPhone 4S to set it apart from its predecessor. Only the design has changed just a bit to now include a dual-band aerial design. The top half of the phone is the exact same with the presence of headphone jack, power/lock button and a noise-cancelling microphone. The right houses the SIM card slot. Dual speakers and the Apple connector complete the bottom half. Minor changes have been made in the rounded volume keys on the left edge of the phone, the top one of which now doubles up as the camera shutter button. The position of the silencer switch also seems to have moved a little upwards.

Interface

The iPhone 4S is the first Apple device to come with its new iOS software, the iOS 5. Somewhat similar to Android, the new system is well-integrated and notifications can now be viewed at the top of the screen which prevents any interference. The camera can be accessed faster by just double tapping the home key. The screen can be swiped and it makes a comeback filled with icons for applications.

Operations

The dual-core A5 processor of the iPhone 4S ensures a superior battery life along with faster operating speeds. Closing and opening apps is easy. The animations do seem to slow down operations a bit but overall, it carries out all functions efficiently. The iPhone 4S boasts of the most intuitive system in the market in recent times which makes it quite user-friendly.

Messaging and Contacts

An exclusive messaging service for iOS devices, iMessage is included which provides a refreshing boost to the iPhone 4S' messaging capabilities. The keyboard is highly intuitive and with the addition of Siri, message replies can now be spoken out though at the cost of some accuracy.

The contacts menu on the iPhone 4S is one of the easiest systems to get a grasp on - choosing the phone section presents a number of options like favorite contacts, dialed or missed call list, etc. Even without the addition of tons of functionality such as social network integration, the iPhone 4S gives you the option of adding some basic information. Signal quality is great while making a call without any call drops.

Camera and Video Recording

Apple has introduced a new sensor design in the 4S' 8 megapixel camera that produces larger capacity pixels. Images tend to possess reduced visual noise which results in well-defined pictures. The wide aperture also comes in handy when shooting objects up-close. The small sensor size helps produce sharp images. Sensitivity settings are adjusted by the camera itself. Apps add an increased level of functionality.

The iPhone 4S can capture 1080p Full HD videos. Anti-shake capabilities allow for improved video stabilization. Good quality shots can be taken in low light using the backlight sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Review

samsung galaxy S3

We have barely recovered from the amazing addition of the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung has sprung the Galaxy S3 upon us, the surprises just don't seem to stop. With a beautiful 4.8 inch screen that is super amoled HD and its amazing features that are designed to beat anything in the current market, make this another good competitor in the already strong range of smartphones by Samsung.

The phone packs features that will make as sit up and take notice. The phone is 2G,3G, and 4G (LTE) enabled, it weighs 133g, even though is heavier than the S2, still continues with the initial idea of not feeling the weight of a heavy smartphone dragging your pockets down. With the super large screen that has 720p X 1280p resolution and around 306 ppi density, the picture quality is bound to be superb.

The phone continues with the plastic feel and is available with the choice of marble white and pebble blue looks in the brushed polycarbonate; the battery has improved support with a more robust battery cover. The screen is protected with corning gorilla glass-2 and the phone has a rounder look to it as compared to the earlier versions.

samsung galaxy S3

The memory stays the same but for the additions of extending it up to 64 GB instead of the earlier provision of 32GB. The camera specs remain the same but the S3 comes with the option to simultaneously record HD video and images. The secondary camera is at 1.9 MP with 720p at 30 frames per second. Packed with the latest Ice Cream Sandwich OS, the CPU has also been made more powerful with the Quad-core 1.4 GHz cortex-A9.

Other internal features include natural language commands and the option for dictation, smart stay eye tracking, and pre-installed Drop box with 50 GB storage. The battery life is also something to look out for; with the standby capacity of up to 590 hours and talk time of 21 hours on 2G and a standby of up to 790 with a talk time up to 11 hours on 3G, the batteries on the S3 rate 43 on endurance for battery life.

On the outside, apart from the much changed look, the home button is longer and the lock button has moved to the right side, keeping in mind the size of the phone. There is an addition of back and menu soft key buttons that make it easier to navigate.

The phone feels great in the hand and the features just make it mouth-watering, and with many networks already offering it at very affordable monthly plans, it is soon to become another rage by Samsung.
